Mo’s steakhouse will be returning downtown in early June, the restaurant’s owner said in a Thursday morning press release.
Owner John Vassallo posted on the restaurant’s website earlier this month that Mo’s would take the space at 15 E. Maryland St. vacated by Lorenzo’s Ristorante, which closed April 4.
At that time, Mo’s website said the 5,500-square-foot space would be rebranded as either a Mo’s steakhouse or Mo's Irish pub.
Mo’s…A Place for Steaks will serve classic items from its Milwaukee and Houston menus, including prime beef, fresh fish and sushi. Besides the two locations, Mo’s operates Irish pubs in Noblesville and in Milwaukee and Wauwatosa, Wis.
Mo’s A Place for Steaks opened in 2003 at 47 S. Pennsylvania St. just north of Bankers Life Fieldhouse and last fall was taken over by new owners. Its name was changed to J Hamman Prime and then to Prime 47. The second name change was necessary after former operator and co-owner Jeremiah Hamman left in October.
Mo’s restaurants are named after Vassallo’s mother, Maureen. The first one opened in 1999, in Milwaukee.
