Georgia-based Ascent Hospitality Management Co. has filed plans to build a dual-branded 230-room hotel along Meridian Street in Carmel.
The 161,600-square-foot hotel (see image at right), branded as an Aloft and Element by Westin, would be built on two parcels totaling about 5.3 acres at 10101 N. Meridian St., just north of Interstate 465. The real estate is bounded on the west by U.S. 31 and medical and commercial uses to the east and north. The cost of the project was not immediately available.
Carmel’s Meridian Corridor is already home to several hotels. A Comfort Inn sits to the north of the site and Holiday Inn, Courtyard by Marriott and Drury Plaza hotels are nearby.
The hotel would be six stories tall and include meeting space, a bar, two restaurants and related amenities, including a pool and fitness center, according to documents filed with the city.
Ascent has requested Carmel grant variances to three development standards for the project regarding signage and front-yard setback requirements.
In Indiana, Ascent Hospitality manages a Holiday Inn Express and Suites in Carmel, a LaQuinta Inn and Suites in Indianapolis and is currently building a Fairfield Inn and Suites in Goshen.
