For me, the weekend included a trek to Cincy to see Playhouse in the Park‘s premiere of bestselling author Walter Mosley’s "The Fall of Heaven"
(based on his novel "The Tempest Tales"). I also ventured to Muncie, where Broadway star Sutton Foster was conducting master classes at Ball State…and
stopped in at the closer-to-home
Indianapolis Art Center for its new "Art from the Heartland" show.
More on all those in upcoming
columns/blogs.
Saturday night I had the pleasure of hearing Straight No Chaser’s Jerome Collins at the packed Encore Vocal Arts benefit at the Skyline Club. An impressive
ad-hoc group of IU musicians–plus EVA’s artistic director Chris Ludwa–provided strong musical support.
Catching all
of that meant missing many more events, including Groovaloo at Clowes Hall, Peter Bogdanovich at the Indianapolis Museum of
Art, and the Art & Soul kick-off event at the Artsgarden.
Did you get to any of those? What else did you see, hear,
read or otherwise experience this weekend?
