Yes, the national tour of "Spring Awakening" bypassed Indy, but audiences hungry for a look at the Tony-winning Best Musical (including, I'd guess, just about every theater-loving under 25 and many over that) will still have a chance to see it.
The Phoenix Theatre announced today that the Tony-winning Best Musical will launch its 2011-2012 season.
But that's not the only high-profile show in the lineup. February brings Tracy Letts' Putlizer-Prize winner "August: Osage County." (Although I'm not sure I'd call it a "Midwest Premiere," as the Phoenix does, since it launched in Chicago prior to its acclaimed Broadway run.)
The Phoenix also demonstrates its continued commitment to new work, with two world premiere, a rolling world premiere (part of the National New Play Network), and the sixth installment in its "Very Phoenix Xmas" series. There's more, too, including a few "To be announced" slots. Details here.
