Students were notified this week that John Green, the visionary head of Butler University’s theater program has accepted the position of Chair of Theatre at Columbia College in Chicago.
Green has been a frequent guest director at the Indiana Repertory Theatre, most recently working on “Crime and Punishment.”
While it’s expected Green will leave in June, a pet project of his, the annual Butler International Theatre Exchange (with director Philip Zarrilli), will continue as planned.
Here’s hoping that Butler finds someone with even half of Green’s vision and guts to take his place. He has been–and I hope, will continue–as an important part of Indianapolis’ cultural life.
More info to come.
