The unveiling of the fairly hideous new artwork at Nationals Park in Washington, D.C. (see article and photos here) got me wondering if anyone has done this sort of fusion of sports arena and visual art any better.
A quick search led me to Seattle’s Safeco Field, where the art seems to actually have been given some thought. And I love the idea of distributing Helen Lessick’s series of art baseball cards at the opening season game. Kudos to the marketers who approved or came up with that savvy move.
Your thoughts on the work at these parks? And can you point me toward other baseball stadium or sports arena art that works for you? And would you like to see Victory Field take steps in this direction?
