Okay, so our nation has annointed another “American Idol.” And the chat rooms are buzzing about whether or not humble guy Kris Allen deserved the win over the in-your-face Adam Lambert.
The fact remains that both have been given a huge launch pad. And past “American Idol” contests have shown that the winner isn’t always the one who gets the bigger career (remind me: who beat Jennifer Hudson? And did you fill your iPod with Taylor Hicks downloads?).
So which of the two, Lambert or Allen, do you think anyone will be listening to in five years? Does either have the chance of a Carrie Underwood or Kelly Clarkson-level career? How long before they pair up in a tour of “Rent”?
And is there any other message to take from this match-up’s results besides the mass audience of text-message girls went for the smile?
