Yes, there's a race. There's also other options. Here are some.

500 Festival Parade

Hollywood stars may be in short supply, but athletes will be out in force for the annual balloon-bedecked march/drive/stroll through downtown. Expect to see the 1955 Crispus Attucks state champion basketball team and cheerleaders (all serving collectively as grand marshals), Olympic gold-winning gymnast Nastia Liukin, Pacers Paul George and Coach Frank Vogal, then-and-now Colts Dwayne Allen, Gary Brackett, and Pat McAfee, racing legends Al Unser, Sr. and Mario Andretti, and, of course, the lineup of drivers for this year’s race. Also on hand: Straight No Chaser, Florence Henderson, and opening entertainers Nico & Vinz.

Three Dollar Bill Comedy solidified its reputation as the area’s top sketch comedy group with its 2011 Indy Fringe show “School House Wrong!” It confirmed its crowd-pleasing status with 2012’s “School House Wrong To! Even Wronger.” Now, the gang has assembled a two-act best-of show, offering spirited, twisted takes on “School House Rock” shorts—those education snippets that taught generations how a bill becomes a law and the function of conjunctions.
