Indianapolis Opera kicks off its season early with this full production of Michael Nyman’s opera about a man with an unusual mental illness. Even more interesting: It’s based on a true story chronicled in the same-titled boo by neurologist Oliver Sacks.

Indiana State Fair concerts
Draws for the free stage during the final week of the Fair include evening concerts by Big & Rich (Aug. 18), Craig Morgan (Aug. 19), KC & the Sunshine Band (Aug. 20), Lennon and Maisy of TV’s “Nashville” followed by The Henningsens (Aug. 21), and Rusted Root (Aug. 22), with LaShun Pace leading a gospel music fest winding things up (Aug. 23).
