No, the Broadway smash “Hamilton” isn’t coming to Indianapolis any time soon. But one of its leading ladies, Renee Elise Goldsberry (who plays Angelica), will be headlining a Nov. 18 benefit for the Cabaret at the Columbia Club. Also on the schedule for the summer/fall season: Megan Hilty, Aaron Lazar, Faith Prince, and the original “Rent” duo Adam Pascal and Anthony Rapp.
A team of arts folks including Claude McNeal, former head of the American Cabaret Theatre, is launching the Indiana Performing Arts Initiative at Herron High School this summer. The semi-professional summer theater program teams high school and college artists with professionals. Its first season will include productions of “Jekyll & Hyde: The Musical” and “Six Characters in Search of an Author.”
More concerts have been announced for the new Warehouse venue in Carmel. They include Leo Kottke, Tiffany, Rhett Miller, Judy Collins, David Benoit, Madeleine Peyroux, Diane Schuur, Don McLean, Paul Thorn, and Ben Sollee.
Dutch DJ Tiesto will be leading Maxim’s May 27 Indy 500 pre-party at the Pavilion at Pan Am. On May 29, Skrillex headlines the Snake Pit Ball.
