Emptying the notebook:
–Indy Jazz Fest has announced its lineup for its September 14-23 events. Acts include vocalist Jane Monheit in a tribute to Ella Fitzgerald, saxophonist Kirk Whalum, trumpeter Randy Brecker, and the Ignacio Berroa Cubop Quintet. Plus a Hammond B3 organ summit with masterclasses, concerts, and more, and a block party outside of the Jazz Kitchen. Details here
–IU's Jacobs School of Music is partnering with Santa Fe Opera, San Francisco Opera, and Seattle Opera to co-produce "The (R)evolution of Steve Jobs," a new opera. After productions elsewhere, it will have its collegiate premiere in Bloomington in September of 2018.
–Indy Film Fest, which recently completed its annual run, returns in 2018 for a 15th year but with a significant change. The event will shift from mid-summer to April/May in an effort to include both more films and more filmmakers.
–The Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra has inked an agreement with Disney Concerts to present the first two films of the original Star Wars trilogy as part of its 2018-19 season.
–And Happy Birthday to the Children's Museum's carousel, celebrating its 100th on July 25.
