Okay, now that we’ve groggily made it through a pair of midnight screenings of Hollywood popcorn flicks (“Quantum of Solace” and “Twilight”), let’s change the pace a little with a serious Oscar contender…at a reasonable hour.
“Slumdog Millionaire” has not only earned rave reviews, but it also picked up the People’s Choice Award at the Toronto Film Festival. An audience-pleaser that the critics love? Let’s see for ourselves at AMC Castleton Square 14 on Tuesday, Dec. 2 at 7:30.
I’ve got pases to give away. Just e-mail me at lharry@ibj.com. Of course, supplies are limited so act quickly. And know that you’ll have to pick up the pass from our downtown office. I’ll e-mail all the information to the winners.
So what is “Slumdog Millionaire”? I’m not one to give away too many plot details (I hate spoilers), so let’s just point out:
–that it’s got a 93% positive rating from the top critics at rottentomatoes.com.
–that it’s directed by Danny Boyle, the ecclectic force behind “Millions,” “Trainspotting,” and “28 Days Later.”
–that if you realy have to take a look, you can see a trailer and get all the info you want here.
Good luck.
P.S.: If you happen to have been to either “Twilight” or the Bond film, feel free to share your thoughts below.?
