Good news ice cream lovers: Graeter’s Inc. is opening a store in Carmel.
The historic Cincinnati-based handmade ice cream shop operator will occupy 2,032 square feet in the three-story Nash building in the City Center development.
The Carmel location, 918 South Range Line Road, will be franchisee Jim Tedesco’s third in the Indianapolis area. The first store in Indianapolis opened at 5560 N. Illinois St. in the Butler-Tarkington neighborhood. There is also a store in Fishers at 8367 Ambleside Court.
Tedesco also owns 11 other locations throughout Indiana and Kentucky with his brother Jay Tedesco.
The store will feature Graeter’s handmade flavors. The ice cream will be made in Louisville and transported to Indianapolis.
It is expected to open in late August or early September.
“My brother and I started Graeter’s in Louisville 17 years ago and are excited to open our Carmel store. With the support and acclaim we have received in our Butler/Tarkington and Fishers locations, we know it will be a success here,” Jim Tedesco said in a statement.
The $10 million Nash building also includes 31 apartments and 8,000 square feet of commercial street-level space.
The Art of Home & Kitchen, a home lifestyle retailer, has also signed a lease in the building for 4,000 square feet. It is expected to open in June.
