Roto-Rooter Inc. has started construction on its new facility in Fishers near 116th Street and Interstate 69.
The Cincinnati-based company is the largest provider of plumbing and drain-cleaning services in North America.
The new $6.1 million facility will be 37,000 square feet on 5.4 acres. It will be the company’s largest branch in the nation.
Roto-Rooters currently operates out of a building on Hillsdale Court in Indianapolis, but it needed additional space for new water-restoration services.
The Fishers location, 12034 Exit Five Parkway, will include offices, a plumbing school with classroom space for more than 150 people, a 26,000-square-foot warehouse with eight drive-thru bays and a hands-on training lab.
Construction is expected to be completed by mid-December.
The company will employ 48 people initially and 60 people within one to three years at the Fishers location. The average wage is $22.89 per hour or $47,606 annually.
In December, the Fishers Town Council approved a four-year property tax abatement for Roto-Rooters, which had considered other locations in the Indianapolis area, according to Fishers officials.
The building will be designed similar to the structure in Dayton, Ohio, which can be seen here.
