Westfield label manufacturer planning move to Fishers

A 25-year-old label manufacturing company is planning to relocate from Westfield to Fishers, it said in an incentives request introduced Monday night to the Fishers City Council.

Enterprise Marking Products Inc. said it plans to purchase a 31,000-square-foot vacant office building at 12840 Ford Drive, near State Road 37 and 126th Street, for $1.75 million and invest $150,000 in facility improvements.

EMP expects to move its existing workforce of 32 to Fishers and hire an additional 20 employees during the next five years for a total payroll of $3.1 million by 2020.

The company requested a three-year personal property tax abatement from the city in exchange for investing $470,000 in new equipment.

The tax abatement would be 100 percent the first year, 66 percent the second year and 33 percent the third year, saving the company an estimated $8,900 over that period.

The request moves to the Fishers Redevelopment Commission for consideration.

EMP opened about 25 years ago in Indianapolis and has been located at 17450 Tiller Court in Westfield for 12 years. It is still owned by its founders Chris and Carol Fread. In addition to producing labels, the company also offers assistance with designing and graphics, printer-plate making and logistics.

Some of EMP’s clients include BP, John Deere and Praxair.
