Roundup: Noble Roman’s to debut pub concept in Westfield; Cell Block 104 opens in Lebanon

Indianapolis-based Noble Roman’s Inc. plans to debut its new restaurant concept in Westfield at the end of the month.

The company announced Monday that Noble Roman’s Craft Pizza & Pub will open Jan. 31 at 17409 Wheeler Road in the Monon Marketplace development near the U.S. 31 and State Road 32 interchange.

The company announced plans for the pizzeria-pub concept in the fall, and the 4,200-square-foot, 140-seat Westfield location will be the first.

The concept is described as “a modernization and redesign" of the original Noble Roman's pizzeria concept, which originated in 1972 and was called "Pizza Pub."

Scott Mobley, CEO of Noble Roman’s, said he's optimistic the concept will lead to long-term growth for the company. Noble Roman’s also operates  take-and-bake outlets in grocery stores.

The menu includes 14 different signature and house pizzas, like “Pig in the Apple Tree,” which features bacon, dried apples, candied walnuts and Gorgonzola, and “Yucatan Sunset,” which has chorizo sausage, mushrooms and Peruvian sweet peppers.

Salads, pastas, baked subs and desserts are also offered, and a kid’s menu is available.The drink menu includes 16 different wines and 29 different beers.

“Our goal is to put the ‘fun’ back into eating pizza out,” Mobley said in a written statement. “We are bringing together the best of our long tradition with some exciting new enhancements.”

Shares of Noble Roman’s were trading at 68 cents each Tuesday morning, down a penny.

• Cell Block 104 is open in Lebanon. The restaurant and bar is in the old Boone County Jail at 104 W. Washington St. The two-story brick building was constructed in 1939.

• Culver’s is open at 17651 Sun Park Drive in Westfield. The restaurant is on the northeast corner of SR 32 and Sun Park Drive, near McDonald’s and Taco Bell.

• Payless Liquors has filed plans for a store on the southwest corner of Whitestown Parkway and Maple Grove Boulevard in Whitestown, to the north of the Maple Grove subdivision.

• Torrid, a retail store offering clothes for plus-sized women, is opening a store at 14390 Clay Terrace Boulevard in the Clay Terrace shopping center in Carmel.

• Software Engineering Professionals has opened a product design studio at 836 S. Rangeline Road in the Nash building in Carmel.

Closings:

• Park Street Pub closed Jan. 13. The owners posted on Facebook that business had taken a sharp decline due to U.S. 31 construction, road redirection and road-access changes. The restaurant/bar was at 515 Park St., southeast of the U.S. 31 and SR 32 interchange.

Park Street Pub was known as Fast Freddy's from 1996 to 2003 before owner Jim Pickering changed the name. The bar itself was built around 1900 in Linton, providing Park Street with the slogan, "the oldest bar in Westfield."
