Another hotel is being proposed near the U.S. 31 corridor in Carmel.
Ohio-based The Witness Group has filed plans for a five-story, 62,790-square-foot Home 2 Suites by Hilton hotel at 12845 Old Meridian St. It would feature 88 rooms, an indoor pool, fitness center, meeting room, breakfast area and patios.
The Home 2 Suites project is expected to be discussed at the Carmel Plan Commission meeting Tuesday night. The hotel would be adjacent to the Veterans of Foreign Wars building at 12863 Old Meridian St.
The Witness Group manages 29 hotels, has four more under construction and another four in development phases, not including the Home 2 Suites in Carmel.
Most of the hotels are located in Ohio and Indiana, but one is in Arlington, Virginia.
The company has one hotel under development in the Indianapolis area—a Residence Inn to be located at 9450 Counselors Row, just south of 96th Street and to the east of Keystone Parkway.
Hilton describes Home2 Suites as "the innovative mid-scale, all-suite extended stay hotel thoughtfully designed for savvy, sophisticated, cost-conscious travelers staying a few months or a few nights." It has 68 Home2 Suites properties in three countries.
Witness Group representatives did not respond to IBJ's request for comment.
