Crawfords Bakery & Deli is closing its retail bakery at 16th Street and Capital Avenue across from Methodist Hospital. The local company, established in 1981, will continue operating a 25,000-square-foot wholesale bakery on the northwest side after the downtown store closes at the end of September. Owners Rick and Karen Crawford said in a statement the store will close upon the expiration of its lease. The popular bakery is planning customer-appreciation days starting Aug. 6 and on Labor Day will share its famous chicken salad recipe on its web site. What would you like to see as a replacement?
