MacKenzie River Pizza Company plans to take the former Adobo Grill space at 82nd Street and Allisonville Road. The Montana-based chain, which has 13 restaurants in Montana and Idaho, specializes in gourmet pizza, sandwiches and made-to-order pastas. Co-owned by brothers John and Michael Shuel, the franchise location also has family heritage: Their father, Steven, founded and developed the concept in Montana before selling it four years ago. He now is a co-owner in the new Indianapolis location, which is taking about 7,200 square feet. "We believed in the culture and the food enough to dive back into it, and hopefully do for the Midwest what we did in Montana," said John Shuel. MacKenzie River is scheduled to open in mid-June.
- Harry & Izzy's plans to open a new location along 82nd Street east of Dean Road in the Rivers Edge shopping center. The homegrown spinoff of St. Elmo Steak House will take about 8,600 square feet between Sangiovese Ristorante and the planned Nordstrom Rack, said Chris Clifford, director of operations for both St. Elmo and Harry & Izzy's. Nordstrom Rack is one of three new anchors Kite Realty is adding to the shopping center, along with BuyBuy Baby and The Container Store. The center also has an outpost of Texas-based Jason's Deli, where soft-serve ice cream is complimentary with every meal. The new Harry & Izzy's is slated to open in early November.
