Two vacant big boxes are getting new users: Burlington Coat Factory plans to take the former home of Dick's Sporting Goods at the northeast corner of 82nd Street and Allisonville Road, and The Tile Shop opened a few weeks ago in the former home of Circuit City along U.S. 31 just south of Stop 11 Road.
- Burlington Coat Factory has filed plans to begin renovations on the 75,000-square-foot anchor space in the Castleton Crossing shopping center, joining anchors Value City Furniture, T.J. Maxx, Home Goods and K&G Menswear, which took over the center's former Circuit City in 2010. The New Jersey-based retailer will vacate its existing store in Castleton at 8315 Center Run Drive just east of Castleton Square Mall and across the street from a low-visibility Target store. The new store is scheduled to open in September. The space has been vacant since Dick's Sporting Goods acquired Galyan's Trading Co. in 2004 and moved into the Galyan's location in Castleton Square Mall.
- The Tile Shop opened earlier this year in The Broadbent Co.'s Greenwood Point shopping center, joining Hobby Lobby, Michael's Arts & Crafts and Buffalo Wild Wings. The shop is only the second in Indiana for the Minnesota-based chain, which has operated a store at 5331 East 82nd St. in the Castleton area for almost 20 years.
