The Metropolitan Development Commission has
given its blessing to a new CVS store along 82nd Street just east of Interstate 69. The 12,900-square-foot store will replace
two of the 10 one-story office buildings that now occupy the 7-acre site at 8202 Clearvista Parkway.
The property owner, Regency Centre Investments Inc., won the board’s approval despite a recommendation for denial from the
city’s planning staff. Regency made several concessions to planners and neighborhood groups, including switching the primary
building material to brick from EIFS, or external insulation finishing system, and adding more sidewalks. The planning
staff wanted the developer to move the CVS closer to 82nd Street to save mature trees in the existing office building’s courtyard
and to lower windows to at or below eye level as a security feature.
