Did you shop small this weekend?
As consumers were nursing their Black Friday hangovers and warming up their clicking fingers ahead of Cyber Monday, entrepreneurs nationwide had their sights set on Small Business Saturday.
The idea behind the day, which debuted last year, is to give local businesses a boost in their effort to grab a piece of the holiday shopping pie.
The Wall Street Journal says about 100,000 small merchants downloaded promotional signage from sponsor American Express’ website in 2010, and 15,000 or so used the credit card company’s Facebook ads to promote themselves this year.
