Ex-Colt Saturday hires Knight’s agent to go after TV gig

Retired Indianapolis Colts center Jeff Saturday is positioning himself for a national broadcasting job, and he's turning to one of the most high-powered agents to get an edge.

Saturday recently signed a deal with New York-based IMG to help him find broadcasting and speaking jobs as well as other commercial work.

Sandy Montag, IMG senior corporate vice president and head of clients, will be the lead agent representing Saturday.  

Montag represents a bevy of current and former athletes and coaches, many of which have gone on to land TV jobs. Montag has notably represented former Indiana University coach Bob Knight, and helped him land a plum analyst job with ESPN. Montag also represents broadcast icon Bob Costas and John Madden.

While Montag declined to say which types of jobs Saturday, who hung up his cleats after last season, might pursue, he said Saturday possesses the perfect combination of football knowledge, speaking ability and personality to be a candidate for on-air jobs.

Saturday's high-profile 14-year playing career, which included stints hiking the ball to all-pro Colts quarterback Peyton Manning and as union players representative, makes Saturday that much more suited for a broadcast and commercial career, Montag said. Saturday played his first 13 seasons in Indianapolis before concluding his career with one year in Green Bay, hiking the ball to another all-pro, Aaron Rodgers.

"It's kind of rare that a former center would have that kind of personality," Montag said of his newest client.
