The Indianapolis company, founded in 1990, began doling out annual profit-sharing bonuses to workers in 2007. But this is the first mid-year bonus.
AIT revenue increased 93 percent in the first five months of the year from the same stretch last year, CEO Michael A. Evans said.
“We felt it was only appropriate to share this with employees; they’ve earned it,” he said. “We’ll do it again at the end of the year.”
Two hundred of the company’s workers are based at AIT’s west-side headquarters. Production laboratory employees and others who have been with the firm at least six months earned bonuses equivalent to 40 percent of their salaries in the first half of 2009. Employees who have been with AIT less than six months received pro-rated bonuses.
In February, the Indiana Chamber of Commerce named the health care research and testing firm its 2009 Small Business of the Year. The company doubled its national sales force and entered 17 new markets in 2008.
Besides bonuses, AIT offers its employees a wellness program, paid registration to community events, profit sharing, flexible work hours, up to $5,000 in tuition reimbursement, free gym memberships and staff picnics and other outings.
