Following are the latest COVID-19 numbers from the Indiana State Department of Health. The department updates its data daily based on information received through 11:59 p.m. the previous day.

COVID-19 cases

*New cases: 453

Total cumulative cases reported Thursday: 46,387

Total cumulative cases reported Wednesday: 45,952

Increase in cumulative cases: 435

Increase in cases reported June 25-July 1: 2,732

Increase in cases reported June 18-24: 2,217

COVID-19 deaths

New deaths: 13

Total deaths: 2,469

COVID-19 testing

*New tests: 7,221

Total cumulative tests reported Thursday: 496,835

Total cumulative tests reported Wednesday: 489,716

Increase in cumulative tests: 7,119

Percentage of total testing positive: 9.3%

Marion County cumulative cases: 11,434 (increase of 47)

Marion County new deaths: 1

Marion County cumulative deaths: 680

Hamilton County cumulative cases: 1,502

Hendricks County cumulative cases: 1,371

Johnson County cumulative cases: 1,244

Madison County cumulative cases: 643

Boone County cumulative cases: 427

Hancock County cumulative cases: 425

Indiana intensive care unit usage

Available ICU beds: 40.6%

ICU beds in use by COVID-19 patients: 9%

Available ventilators: 83.2%

Ventilators in use for COVID-19: 3%

Indiana long-term-care facilities (updated June 29)

New cases: 195

Total cases: 5,342

New deaths: 26

Total deaths: 1,166

Facilities with at least one case: 277

Facilities with at least one death: 178

U.S. and worldwide numbers

As of Thursday morning, from John Hopkins University:

U.S. cases: 2,699,658

U.S. deaths: 128,184

Global cases: 10,742,416

Global deaths: 517,162

*New cases and tests are previously unreported cases and tests submitted to the Indiana State Health Department in the 24 hours through 11:59 p.m. the previous day. This category typically contains numerous duplicates—as many as 20% or more—that are later eliminated from the cumulative totals.

  1. Here’s a link to a Google Sheet collecting this data over time. FWIW, 2 weeks ago, we have now had two days in a row with 6+% positives in the tests. Personally, I think this is ‘better’ for Indiana because we should want to keep infecting our people on a reasonable (if not systematic), controlled basis, so the herd gets its immunity. Be safe, everyone.
