It is the obligation of our government bodies, both state and local, to provide quality education to the citizens and their children. As we expand vouchers we only take away from the public education facilities and teacher pay. If we truly want quality we must fully support public education. Those who can afford may avail their family of private schools. But the government bodies have no obligation to support private education.
We cannot abandon public education if our children are to excell.
100% – offering higher income families to use the voucher program is backwards. Support our local community and public schools. The only benefit I can see is reducing school size to avoid overcrowding in the schools.
How about those who are paying for their children to go to a private school get an exemption from having to pay for public education on their property taxes? Sounds like a plan to me.
