I've written here in the past about the play-packed American Theatre Critics Association conferences I've attended in Chicago and Washington, D.C. Good theater. Interesting panels. More good theater…
Well, the next ATCA conference won't require much of a drive.
You see, not only will I be attending, but I'm also organizing, an ATCA weekend conference right here in Central Indiana. I pitched, the board approved, and now we've got a crop of critics coming to town. In March, I'll have the pleasure of introducing journalists from around the country to the IRT, the Phoenix, the Great American Songbook Archives and a lot more.
In addition to going to conferences, ATCA also recommends a theater each year to win the regional Tony Award and selects new work for a number of playwrighting awards. For more information on ATCA, click here.
Thanks to the ICVA and the theater community for their help in the pitch planning. Now the work begins.
In the meantime, your thoughts? And what Indiana production from the past do you wish a busload of critics would have been able to see here?
