There's no shortage of activty this week, much of it slightly off-the wall. Here's my starter list:

Celebrity Softball

June 13

Victory Field

In one of Indy’s most affordable benefit events (just $7), this annual game features the likes of Roy Hibbert, Robert Mathis and two teams worth of local athletes and media personalities competing in a softball game as well as a home run derby. Another 2013 addition: a post-game concert with country recording artist Corey Cox. Proceeds help the Indiana Children’s Wish Fund. Details here.

“Monty Python’s Spamalot!”

June 14-29

Athenaeum

Director/producer Bob Harbin has gathered some of Indy’s most talented—and goofiest—actors for the regional premiere of the musical based on “Monty Python and the Holy Grail.” This expansion of one of the most quoted movies in cinematic history features Charles Goad, Paul Hansen, Ben Asaykwee and Claire Wilcher. Details here.

Zoobilation

June 14

IndianapolisZoo

Advice to first-time Zoobilation-goers: Give up on calorie counting for a day, skip lunch, and pace yourself. Sure, it’s tempting to dig right into the oysters from Oceanaire, the shrimp cocktail from St. Elmo, the ribeye from Fogo De Chao, and the lobster mac and cheese from The Capital Grille. But remember that you also want to save room for Blondie’s Cookies, frozen pops from Nicey Frozen Treats, and s’mores bars from The Best Chocolate in Town. And those represent just a small sampling of the dozens of restaurants and bakeries offering up at this sold-out event. This year, Zoobilation also features music from the Impalas, My Yellow Rickshaw, Jason Aaron Coons and more.  Details here. http://www.indyzoo.com/SitePages/SpecialEvents/zoobilation.aspx Didn’t make the call before the tickets sold out? Well, you can still order a copy of IBJ Media’s 2013 Indianapolis Zoobilation Restaurant & Foodie Guide. Details here.

Zombie Apocalypse

June 19

IndianaHistorical Society

The Indiana State Department of Health, Indiana’s Department of Homeland Security, the Red Cross, and an army of invading zombies will overrun the Indiana History Center for this adults-only event that combines info with interactive craziness. How do you live on the run? What survival skills are essential? And can you really trust that drooling guy shuffling toward you? SunKing will be pouring libations, I’ll be signing copies of my book “Know Your Zombies,” oral histories of survivors will be recorded, and it will be very difficult to refer to this place as stuffy ever again. Note: A family-friendly version will be held June 20. Details here.

Also this week
