"Ugly Lies the Bone," a play being developed at Bloomington Playwrights Project where it will be presented April 3-18, will be moving to off-Broadway's acclaimed Roundabout Theatre in September. While it is receiving a production here, the Roundabout gets credit for offering the play's world premiere.
The Bloomington production will mark the BPP theater debut of David Anspaugh, who directed the Indiana-centric films "Hoosiers" and "Rudy." An IU graduate, Anspaugh moved back to Bloomington in 2014.
The play, by Lindsay Ferrentino, concerns a severely burned soldier who moves in with her sister after returning from service. Patricia McGregor will take over director chores for the New York edition.
