Southport shakeup. Big changes are underway at Southport and Gray roads on the south side. An LA Fitness, the city’s third, is under construction on 4.5 acres west of Gray Road. The building seems obnoxiously close to the road, almost like the site wasn’t really big enough. Anyone seen it? The LA Fitness is scheduled to open in early 2008. Next door will be a Starbucks, scheduled to open in November. Closer to Gray Road, workers are building a new Waffle House to replace both an old Waffle House and an Amoco. The Super 8 hotel stays put.
Fashion Mall update. Hip clothing retailer Anthropologie plans to open a 10,000-square-foot store, its first in Indiana, on Oct. 26 in the former Eddie Bauer space. Abigail’s bridal shop is moving to a 1,400-square-foot space next door to the first-floor cookie shop.
Fit in Fishers. St. Petersburg, Fla.-based Lifestyle Family Fitness is planning a fitness facility in Fishers, but no word yet on the location. The chain is setting up a storefront office to sign up new members at 7266 Fishers Crossing Dr. Other Indianapolis-area locations with signed leases are 7609 S. Shelby St. and 9525 N. Meridian St. Lifestyle also is building a gym along 82nd Street.
Coming to Castleton. Two new retailers have signed leases at the Linens N Things Plaza at 86th Street and Allisonville Road in Castleton, Grubb & Ellis Harding Dahm & Company said today. Sola Salon Studios plans to take 4,600 square feet and open in November, and One World Market, a Japanese grocery store and cafe, plans to take 3,500 square feet and open in December.
