Florida-based Lifestyle Family Fitness plans to close two of its facilities in Indianapolis—at 82nd Street near Dean Road and along Shelby Street just south of Stop 10 Road—by the end of November. Meantime, the chain agreed to sell two other locations, along Meridian Street just south of 96th Street and near 116th Street and Interstate 69 in Fishers, to Minnesota-based Life Time Fitness, which plans to rebrand the gyms. The Life Time chain, which operates about 100 fitness facilities in 20 states, also plans to keep its existing location northeast of 86th Street and Allisonville Road. Life Time said in a statement that it agreed to acquire up to nine Lifestyle gyms in Ohio, Indiana and North Carolina. Lifestyle will continue operating gyms in Florida. The fitness facilities at 7609 S. Shelby St. and 4225 E. 82nd St. are scheduled to close Nov. 30. Life Time plans to honor the memberships at locations that remain open. The move comes in the same month as Cardinal Fitness abruptly closed six central Indiana fitness centers.
